Is the big makeup trend for Fall/Winter ’08 “death warmed over"? Perhaps…but there is light at the end of this dreary tunnel. On the runways of Oscar de la Renta, Tuleh, Luca Luca and BCBG Max Azria we noticed a really exciting, glamorous look – with a stunning, shimmering smokey eye and dewy, nude lips & cheeks.

To get the look:
Start with a flawless face, of course. Try our Concealer Trios in Light-Medium or Medium-Dark to erase the little imperfections and set with Translucent Powder.

Eyes – Begin to create your smokey eye with Warm Black Eye Shadow. Focus on the outer and inner corners and buff upwards (and outwards on the outer corners) with Cool Brown Sugar Eye Shadow to soften and create a smokey gradation. Wet a Pointed Eye Liner Brush and line the bottom lashes with Warm Black Eye Shadow. Once dry, gently buff out to soften. To create the shimmering accent that is the center point of this look, wet a Lip or Concealer Brush and apply Bronze Eye Shadow, focusing on the center of the eye lid. Add several coats of Black Mascara, focusing on the outer, upper lashes.
Brows are soft and groomed. If you don’t need to fill in, use Clear Brow Gel and with the length of your finger, flatten the hairs. If you need filling in, use the appropriate brow powder before the Clear Brow Gel.

Cheeks & Lips – What a great reason to create a new product! We loved this look, so we were inspired to create a new Watercolour for Cheeks called Wallflower (Coming Soon!!), a soft, shimmering beige color wash. With the fingers, dab Wallflower on the high points of the cheeks and generously on the lips.

Chad just finished the Carlos Campos Fall 2008 fashion show. Chad keyed the makeup for men’s collection and had a team of three assist him on the very sophisticated look.

An urban, gothic vampire/rocker was the theme with pale skin, strongly contoured cheeks, smoky burgundy eyes and a slash of black cherry stained lips.

Chad used our Crème Concealer/Foundation one to two shades lighter than the models’ skin tone and set it with a generous amount of translucent loose powder. Cheeks were contoured and hollowed out using Face Powder #5 with a dash of Ski Bunny Lip & Cheek Stain to give a little glow to the upper jaw bone.

Eyes were smoky with Face Powder # 5 used to hollow out the eyes. The lash lines rimmed with a Custom Blended deep burgundy cake eye liner used wet and then smoked out when dry, then accented with Black Eye liner. Brows were impeccably groomed with Clear Brow Gel.

Lip were given a wash of Burgundy or Plum Crème to Powder Blush as a matte lip veil.

Our longtime friend from back in our clubbing days, Kevin Crawford, asked us to do the makeup and hair for the recent KSwiss show he was producing. What fun, and what a sweet and professional team of models, dressers, stylists and producers to work with!
We had a great time getting the models ready for the runway – the theme, of course, was “athletic", so we kept it simple. We did use ample concealer to cover those post party dark circles and light bronzer on everyone and then for the girls we used very soft shadows, liner and light mascara on the eyes and our brand new Poppy Lip & Cheek Stain on the lip/cheeks with Bellini Gloss. On the boys, we used a little Poppy Lip & Cheek Stain on the cheeks and a yet-to-be-launched lipstick that we will tell you about soon! Hair was simple, generally loosely tied back for the girls and well-groomed for the guys.

Paula Begoun spotlights us, again…and again.

Beauty authority Paula Begoun has just published the 7th Edition of the beauty industry bible, Don’t Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me. Praised in earlier editions, we remain a standout across multiple categories and was awarded top mentions among her “Best Products" listings.

Paula hails our Ready to Wear line as “outstanding" and praises our “first-rate customer service." And we are the only company that offers custom color matching for discontinued products mentioned in her book.
